Hey there! I’m Shyan—you might know me from the SEO department at Cinch Communications—and I have some very exciting news to share…

My fiancé Adam and I are officially planning our 2026 wedding, and yes, I am that person who created a Pinterest board years before he even proposed. But now that the real planning is underway, I can’t help but see every step of the journey through my marketing brain. The search for a venue? A masterclass in SEO. Choosing vendors? Pure brand strategy. Finding the perfect invitation design? It’s all about visual identity and storytelling.
As a full-time marketer and part-time wedding planner (for now), I’m launching a fun little blog series here on the Cinch site.
You could say I’m doing a few blog takeovers while I plan my big day—and I’ll be dishing out all the behind-the-scenes details on how I’m using real marketing strategies to make wedding planning easier, more strategic and (hopefully) less stressful.
Because here’s the truth no one tells you: planning a wedding in 2025 and into 2026 is basically navigating the ultimate marketing funnel. From that first Instagram ad to the Google rabbit holes at 2 AM, every decision brides make is heavily influenced by how visible, relevant and compelling your business is online. So if you’re a wedding vendor (or really, any business hoping to reach modern consumers), this blog series is for you too.
We’ll cover all the good stuff—like why your business needs to show up on the first page of Google if you want brides to find you, and how the right branding can make your wedding invites unforgettable. I’ll even share how building our own wedding website is saving my sanity (and my inbox).
Planning a wedding is deeply personal, but it’s also a fascinating look at how today’s digital world shapes buyer behaviour. Weddings aren’t just about florals and dress fittings anymore. They’re about strategy, visibility and connection. And that, my friends, is marketing 101.

At Cinch Communications, we’ve always said that your online presence is your first impression. Whether you’re a local photographer, a venue owner, or someone just dipping into the world of digital marketing, your ability to show up online determines how (and if) people find you. That’s why we specialize in creating SEO-driven content, managing social media strategies, and helping Alberta businesses shine across platforms. If you’re not showing up, someone else is.
I’ll be sharing how I applied the same tools we use for Cinch clients—like strategic keyword use, branding cohesion and content planning—to my own wedding planning journey. Think of it like a #GRWM, but instead of makeup, we’re talking SEO, web design and digital visibility.

Future posts will explore topics like:
How I actually found my dream venue (spoiler: Instagram and SEO played a role!)
The wild impact a wedding invitation can have on your “wedding brand”
Why every bride should have a wedding website
And what every business can learn from how brides shop online
So grab a glass of wine, and follow along as I plan my wedding, one strategic marketing decision at a time. It’s going to be fun, a little chaotic, and definitely full of insights for anyone in the wedding industry—or anyone who wants their business to be seen by today’s digital-savvy consumer.
And if you’re curious about how Cinch can help you show up online (whether you're a vendor, venue or just someone needing a boost), check out our content marketing services or book a discovery session. Let’s make your brand unforgettable—no wedding required.
Let’s do this!
